I just finished this Valentine card just in time to enter the hearts/stars Paper Players Theme Challenge #527 and the pink and brown Cards 4 Galz Challenge #140.

 

I've always loved the colors of pink and brown together, so this was a really enjoyable card to make.  And what's not to love about hearts!  I used the lovely Stampin' Up stamps and dies called Meant to Be and Be Mine Stitched Framelits.  The hearts in these sets are soooo pretty.  Take a look at my card:

I stamped the sentiment on a piece of white card stock then die cut it using a die from the Penny Black Antique Frames die set.

I'm back with another Quick & Easy card today  This one I made to enter in a challenge at Fab Friday  The challenge this week is to make a card according to this sketch.

I actually didn't have an idea of what I was going to do -- just started by choosing some coordinating card stock and ended up making a some-what unusual Valentine's Day card.  But isn't that the fun of card making?  Just letting it evolve as you go along.

The finished size of the card is 4 1/4" H x 5 1/2" W, which is side folded.  The love heart is adhered to a piece of corner-rounded card stock.  While trying to decide on embellishments, I remember that I had some green and magenta organdy ribbon.  I think it adds a nice touch.  In order to get more color with the crystal dots, I hole punched small circles of matching color card stock.  I then glued the circles to the card and then glued the crystal dots to the circles - three on the lower left side and one on the upper right side for a nice balance.

A Special Valentine Card

Hello again, friends!

I had a special request from my pastor to make a valentine card for his wife.  Of course, I said yes, but, me oh my, could I do justice for the occasion.  I wanted to make something that was feminine and a bit elegant. Thankfully, once I got started it all fell into place.  I was happy with the result, Pastor was happy, and hopefully Pastor's wife will be, too.

Hearts-a-Plenty

Hello again friends,

I just got back from the gym and need to take a little rest break.  So I thought what better time than now to enter my next blog post showcasing two of the cards we made at my last class.

The first card is a case from Pinterest. I couldn't resist because I'm just smitten with the Impression Obsession Heart Flourish.  I also loved those little tiny flowers, made with the Impression Obsession dies Spiral Flowers and Leaf Cluster.  To make it suit my fancy, I used a different border punch (Stampin' Up hearts border) and added red card stock under the punched border.  I also decorated the inside of the card by adding red strips to both inside panels and decorated them with the punched out white hearts created by the border punch.  A big thank you goes to Kittie Caracciolo for inspiring me to create this card.

 This second card has kind of an old-fashioned look which I love.  The ribbon overlaying the decorative paper (which has raised embossing on it) has an embroidered flower design with sequins attached.  Not sure how well it shows up in the picture but it's really pretty.  It originally was a wired ribbon, but I removed the wire to make it lay more smoothly.  To hold it in place, I used 1/8" Red Line Tape (can use Score Tape), on both sides of the ribbon and over to the back side at top and bottom.

I die cut the "love" heart from red card stock using the Savvy Die Love Heart #10061 and backed it with white card stock.  For the final touch, I punched two sizes of small hearts and then added white floss to one of the larger ones.  All of the hearts are adhered with mounting tape.

Hearts-a-Plenty

The love month is just around the corner -- February, of course!  Chocolate and flowers and chocolate and valentines and chocolate . . . you get the picture . . . all given and shared in the name of "love."  Hummm, what a romantic month.  At church "God's Love" is the theme for my library promotion table this year.  I'll have lots of books, DVD's, CD's and Music CD's on display, and available for check out, on marriage, relationships, loving your neighbor, loving acts of kindness, and especially about the love of God and Jesus, His Son.  I can hardly wait until tomorrow when I can start decorating!  Our library has greeting cards available to purchase by donation, with all funds going toward the purchase of new library media.  So for the past few weeks I've been busily creating greeting cards with a variety of hearts on them.  Each card was made 2 or 3 times so I'm talking about a LOT of cards.  Some people see stars -- I see hearts!  I've posted a lot of them for you to view.  Maybe you'll see a design that you'd like to use.

January Challenge - Use 3 or more new card making/scrapbooking items.

Hi fellow stampers!  Well, here goes on month one of my monthly challenge using 3 or more new card making items.  The idea here is NOT to buy new supplies or tools, but to use for the first time from what I've already purchased.  Repeats don't count.  I'm really excited to do this monthly challenge until I've used everything that I just had to have, but instead the purchase sat on a shelf or in a drawer unused.  It's definitely time to move forward and I'm ready to meet the challenge. 

For this month I chose a Valentine theme because it's my time to provide a project at a monthly stamp club that I belong to -- and Valentine's Day is only a couple of weeks away.  Here are pictures of the outside and the inside of the card:

The new products from my stash are the Sizzix Bigz die called Card, Zig Zag 3-D (Pop-Up), Sizzix Heart #1 from the original Sizzix dies, Martha Stewart anywhere lacy heart punch, and the Crop-A-Dile Corner Chomper.  The corner chomper I've had for just ages and I just discovered that I love it.  Why did I let it sit around for so long!!! 

I really liked all these products.  The pop up card die came with instructions and was extremely easy to use.  Easy is definitely good.  Well, there you have it - looking forward to the February challenge.  Post what you think of these tools - would love to read it.

The Greatest is Love

Valentine’s Day has come and gone, but that doesn’t mean you have to put away your heart rubber stamps and scrapbooking supplies. Love should be active in our lives all year round. The Bible tells us, from 1 Corinthians13:3, “And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” (NKJV)

What makes love so amazing? For starters, it is what motivated the

Father to send His only Son to die for us. Without love, there would have been no redemption for mankind. Not only would we be without love, but without the redemption that was brought on by love, there would also be no faith, and no hope. You see, nothing else matters, without love. It is the basis for every other good thing in our lives.

Making and sending cards is one way I like to show love, so my heart stamps and supplies are going to be used throughout the year. Here’s a few that I made today.
