When I saw this card made by Diane Langman (facebook.com/diana.mystampnook/videos/858120869607912), I knew I just had to give it a try.  I watched her video and wrote down the instructions as best as I could.  I hope you find them helpful, but there were some steps that I couldn't explain with words only - the video is needed.   

Cutting Dimensions:
Fresh Fresia Base 8 ½” x 5 ½”
Fresh Fresia Panoramic Panel 4 ¾” x 8”, score at 2, 4, 6
Perennial Lavender DSP for the Card Front 4” x 5 1/4”, embossed with Exposed Brick or 

     Timeworn Type EF
Perennial Lavender DSP for the panoramic panel.  

     Make sure the image is landscape direction - 4 ¾” x 7 ½”; cut 4 panels at 1 7/8” x 4 ¾”
Perennial Lavender DSP Panel for left inside 4” x 5 ¼”, emboss with SU Timber EF.  I used

     the reverse side of the of the DSP I used for the other parts of the card
White panel for right inside 4” x 5 ¼”
White and Fresh Fresia layered for front sentiment panel

Supplies:
Stampin’ Up Exposed Brick or Timeworn Type EF
Stampin’ Up Timber EF
Stampin’ Up Unbounded Love set – Happy Birthday

Simon Says Stitched Rectangle (two smallest ones) for greeting on front of card

Stampin' Up Stanp'N Blends - Light Fresh Fresia, Light Poppy Parade, Light Mossy Meadow 

Memento Black Ink
Linen Twine - lavender and white
Purple Jewels or Pearls

Directions:
1. Stamp inside sentiment on white panel. Stamp little flowers under it on the right side, color

        with colors listed above, and then adhere to inside right of card.
2. Emboss the Plaid panel with Timber EF and adhere to the left inside of card.
3. With panoramic panel, on the right side, make a mark 2” from the bottom.
4. Cut diagonally from the 2” mark to the top corner on the left side.
5. Score at 2, 4, 6 inches.
6. Fold from left to right – V, M, V.

7. Diagonally trim the DSP panels to fit the Fresh Fresia diagonal panoramic panel.
8. Adhere them to the panoramic panel.
9. With the panoramic panel folded together, glue the left panel to the card base, leaving a

        small border on the left side and the bottom of the card base.
10. With the panoramic panel still folded together, add glue to the back of the last panel,

        fold over the back of the card, thereby gluing them together.
11. Add 3 butterflies to the top of the first inside panoramic panel.
12. Stamp happy birthday on the white label, then adhere to the Fresh Fresia label. Attach to

        card front at an angle.
13. Make a bow using 2 strands of linen twine and attach on the left under “Happy Birthday.”
14. Add 3 jewels/pearls to front and add jewels/pearls to the center of each flower.

A  friendly hello to you.  I've been away from my blog for quite a while.  Having really missed posting, I decided to give it a go again.  One thing to note is that BlogSpot no longer provides free email sign up.  So, in order to see my blog, you will have to go to the site yourself in order to see what's new.  Not happy with this, but I'll make do - and hope you will, too.

The instructions are rather lengthy because the card design requires a lot of cardstock and decorative paper.  If  you need a visual to help you put the pieces together, you can find many tutorials on YouTube by putting the name of the card in the search field.

Card Front

This card is called a Concertina Pocket Fancy Fold card.  It has lots of pieces so I suggest that as you cut your card stock, you place it in 5 stacks according to the 5 sections of directions.  This will be really help you to put the card together more easily. 

 

Measurements

 Card Front

Purple Cardstock – outer card base 8¾” x 5¾” ; Score at 4⅛” & 4⅝”

2 pieces of 6” lavender ribbon; attach the ends of the ribbon, one on each side, to the center of the outside card base. 

Heather (light lavender) Cardstock – middle outer layers at 3⅞” x 5½”  2 pieces; layer to front and back of card base.

Lavender Flowers DP 3 5/8” x 5 ¼” cut 2 and layer onto Heather panels on card front and back.

Scrap piece of Purple Cardstock – MemoryBox die Lenora Bloom; adhere to front of card and add 2 Crystals or White Gems for the two flowers in the die cut.

 Back of Card Base

Heather (light lavender) Cardstock – middle inner layers at 3 5/8” x 5 ½” 2 pieces;

layer to inside of card base on left and right sides.

Dotted DP 3 ¼”  x 5 1/8”  - 2 pieces; layer onto Heather panel – each side.

Pockets for Tags

1.  Purple Cardstock – inner card base 8½” x 5¾” ; Score at 4” & 4½”

2.  On each side measure from the bottom up to 2 1/8” and make a pencil mark.  With paper trimmer, cut from the pencil marks to the top of the score line on each side.

3.  White – middle layers for inner card base 2 pieces 3 5/8” x 5 3/8”.  Measure up from the bottom at 2”.  Cut from the pencil marks up to the opposite corner at the top.

4.  Lavender Flowers DP cut 2 pieces 3 3/8” x 5”; Cut up at 1 3/4”, one on the left side and one on the right side.

5.  Adhere the white panel and the flowered panel to the diagonal cut purple piece.

 Concertina for Bottom of Card

Purple Cardstock – concertina 2¼” x 10½” ; Score 1¾”, 3½”, 5¼”, 7” & 8¾”

Fold the concertina panel starting from the left side – V – M – V – M - V

Heather (light lavender) – concertina middle layers 6 pieces 2” x 1½”; layer onto Purple concertina panel.

The two Designer Papers for top layer of concertina 1¼” x 1 ¾” – cut 2 from each DP.

Very Vanilla Cardstock for top layer of concertina – 2 pieces 1 ¼” x 1 ¾ ”; stamp with Sentiments:   Hero Arts “happy birthday” and Stampin’ Up Hey Chick  “have a happy day”

Adhere the left side of the concertina panel on the very edge at the bottom of the card base.  Do the same on the right side.

 Tags

Purple Cardstock – bookmarks 5” by tad under 2”

White Cardstock – 2 pieces for bookmarks design 4⅛” x 1¾”

Stampin’ Up Scallop Tag Topper Punch – punch the top of the tags.

Crop-A-Dile Corner Chopper ¼” side – only at the top of the white panel, left and right.

Lavender Ribbon 2 pieces at 6 inches each; fold the ribbon in half then thread the fold through the opening at the top of the tag, and then thread the two ends through the fold.

Tiny Flower Punch and Nuvo Christal Drops – Morning Dew (white)

Stamp the tags with the Sentiment Stamps:   Stampin’ Up:  God is our Refuge, and  Annette Watkins:  Be Kind and Good to Others 

Inside of Card

Directions

 Kit #1 Card Front Directions

1.        On the purple cardstock, Score at 4⅛” and 4⅝”, and then fold on the two score lines and then strongly burnish the two folds.

2.        On the purple cardstock, tape the lavender ribbons in place, one on each end at center.

3.        Adhere the lavender panels, front and back of card base.

4.        Adhere the lavender flowers decorative paper panels, front and back of card base.

5.        Glue the purple flowers die cut to the front of the card.

6.        We will add the gems after the card is completed.

 Kit #2 Back of the Card Base

1.        Adhere the lavender panels, one on each side.

2.        Adhere the lavender patterned paper panels, one on side, making sure that the pattern is going in the same direction.

3.        Lay aside for now.

 Kit #3 Pockets for Tags

1.        With this purple cardstock, score at 4” and 4 ½”, and then fold on the two score lines and then strongly burnish the two folds.

2.        Starting on the left side of the purple panel, measure from the bottom up to 2 1/8” and make a pencil mark.

3.        With paper trimmer, cut from the pencil mark to the top of the left score line.

 4.        With white panel working on the left side, measure up from the bottom at 2” and make a pencil mark. 

5.        Cut from the pencil mark up to the top of the opposite corner.

6.        With the Lavender Flowers DP at the left side, measure up to 1 3/4” make a pencil mark.

7.        Cut from the pencil mark up to the top of the opposite corner.

 8.        Adhere the flowered panel onto the white panel.

9.        Set it aside for now, while we do the right side.

 10.      With the purple cardstock working on the right side, measure from the bottom up to 2 1/8” and make a pencil mark.

11.      With paper trimmer, cut from the pencil mark to the top of the right score line on the the purple cardstock.

 12.      With white panel working on the right side, measure up from the bottom at 2” and make a pencil mark.

13.      Cut from the pencil mark up to the top of the opposite corner.

14.      With the flower DP, working on the right side, measure up to 1 3/4” and make a pencil mark.

15.      Cut from the pencil mark up to the top of the opposite corner.

16.      Adhere the flowered panel onto the white panel.

17.      Now it is time to adhere the two sets of the layered panels to the purple cardstock, making sure you have them on the correct sides.

18.      Adhere the pocket panel to the card base using tape or glue on the spine.  Fold the left side over to the right, place the spine along the score line on the card base;  then adhere the rest of the pocket but be sure to not glue down the top of the pocket – leave loose so the tag can be inserted.  Do the same for the right side.

 Kit #4 Concertina for Bottom of Card

1.        On the long strip of Purple Cardstock, score at 1¾”,  3½”,  5¼”,  7” &  8¾”,

2.        Fold the concertina panel starting from the left side – V – M – V – M – V, burnish well.

3.        Adhere the lavender pieces to the purple concertina panel.

4.        Adhere the two Designer Papers as shown on the sample card.  Starting on the left side:  1^st section - flower CS; skip 2^nd section; 3^rd  section - striped CS; 4^th section – flower CS; skip fifth section; 6^th section - striped CS.

5.        Next, we will stamp sentiments onto the two white panels: 1^st panel - birthday wishes;  2^nd panel - have a happy day.  Adhere in order onto the lavender sections.

6.        Adhere the left side of the concertina panel on the very edge at the bottom of the card base.

7.        Do the same on the right side.

 Kit #5 Tags

1.        Punch the top of the two purple panels with the Stampin’ Up Scallop Tag Topper Punch.

2.        On the white panels, using corner rounder only on the top left and right. (not the bottom)

3.        Stamp the sentiments onto the white panels leaving room for a tiny flower at the top:  God is our Refuge and Be Kind and Good to Others.

4.        To add the ribbons, fold the ribbon in half then thread the fold through the opening at the top of the tag, front to back, and then thread the two ends through the fold of the ribbon.

5.        You can use a glue dot to hold the ribbon tight and in place.

6.        Use a small drop of the Nuvo Christal Drops to the center of each flower.

 Final Step

1.        On the front of the card, adhere a Gem to the center of each die cut flower.

Now that Christmas card making is past, I have some time to try some of the fancy folds patterns I've been saving up.  This one is called a Pop-Up and Pull-Out Card.  I was a bit intimidated to try it.  However, I just focused on one step at a time and it turned out to be quite easy.  Now I'm just crazy about this fold and love this color combination.  See what you think.

Here is a pic of how the inside and the pul-out fold look.

Card Base

Purple 5 ½” x 8 ½”; score at 2 1/8” and 4 ¼”
1st Pattern DP (z-fold panels) 1 7/8” x 5 ¼” (cut 2) (I used two patterns.)

Card Front
Purple Small Front Panels 1 ¾” x 1 ¾”, (cut 2)
2nd Pattern DP Small Front Layer Panels 1 ½” x ½” (cut 2)
Purple Scalloped Circle Punch/Die 2 ¼”
White Circle Punch/Die 2”

Card Inside
Light Yellow Panel 4” x 5”
White Panel 3” x 4 ¾”
1st Pattern DP Strip ½” x 4 ¾”
Purple Strip ¼” x 4 ¾”

Pop Up Inside Panel
Purple Panel 3 ¾” x 3 ¾” (cut in half)
2nd Pattern DP 3 ½” x 3 ½” (cut in half)
Using Stampin’ Up Double Oval Punch, punch the scalloped oval from Purple; punch the plain oval from white.

You can pretty much follow the photo to see how the pieces fit together.  However, there is one thing that I haven't mentioned yet.

Once you get the middle DP panel and the Yellow panel adhered, fold the card in half.  You need to make two horizonal slits in this way:  3/4" in from the fold and 1 1/2" down from the top.  Then again 1 1/2" up from the bottom and 3/4" in from the fold.  

Make score lines between the two slits.  Fold with a mountain fold.  This is the place where you will adhere the triangle panel.

Hey Chick - Happy Birthday from One Chick to Another

One of my dear friends asked me if I would show her how to cut and paste pictures. So there we were looking at cards in Pinterest. She made a fuss over the cards made with the Stampin' Up chickens.  We spent some time just looking and laughing at all the cards we could find using the chickens stamps. I knew right then that the birthday card I would make for her would have to be with the chickens.  My inspiration came from a card I saw at Beth's Paper Crafts.

For the front of the card, I stamped the sentiments on small white paper strips, cut them to size, and adhered them with foam tape.  All of the images are glued in place.  

Stamp a sentiment on the little sign after you die cut.  On the inside of the card, I added a slight shading on the ground under the chicken and the sign.

Stamp the four chicken images with Memento black ink on the white card stock and die cut.  I used Barn Door Distress Ink to lightly shade the three chickens for the front of the card.  For the chicken inside the card, I used Mustard Seed Distress Ink.  For the chicken combs and the cupcake, I used Stampin’ Blends Real Red.

Measurements and Card Stock
Light Blue Card Base 8” x 9”, scored at 4”, then fold.
Red Card Stock Layer 3 7/8” x 8 7/8”, adhere to card base.
White Card Stock Panel 3 ¾” x 8 ¾”, cut 2 (one for the inside)
Extra White Card Stock for stamping images

Die Cuts for the Card

• 3 corn stalks from a shade of green and 3 more from a darker shade of green
• 7 corn husks from the darker shade of green and 7 corn cob pieces from yellow
• 3 picket fences, 1 sign and 1 chicken wire from light brown or tan card stock
• 2 streamers from light blue card stock (the same color as the card base)

Welcoming Woods Birthday Card

What a beautiful fall day we're having today.  Such a nice blessing after a whole day of rainfall yesterday.  Today's card fits right in with the current season.  I saw this design on Pinterest by Piccadilly Stamping.  It is so beautiful that I wanted to pass it on to you.

Just a couple of things to note. The stamp set has a stamp for the trees and one for the ground. I used my Misti to get the right placement. The second thing to remember is to stamp the sentiment before you emboss the layering panel. I included that caution in my directions, but wanted to bring special attention to this detail. Have fun!

Measurements
Card Base 8.5” x 5.5”
Layering Panel 4” x 5.25”
White Panel 4” x 4.5” (After coloring and stamping, cut down to 3” x 3.5”.)
Brown Panel 3.25” x 3.75”

Supplies
Stampin’ Up Welcoming Woods Stamp Set
Stampin’ Up Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder
Distress Inks, with blending tools for each color
     Mustard Seed Stormy Sky
     Wild Honey Rustic Wilderness

Directions
1. Before embossing, on the layering panel, somewhat about one-half inch from the bottom, with black ink, stamp Happy Birthday in the lower right corner, leaving room for the jewels.
     a. Emboss with Tasteful Textiles.
     b. Adhere to card base.

2. On the white panel, make a tic mark about ½ inch from the top and the bottom on it. When blending your rows of color, they should be focused on the areas between the tic marks.

3. Sponge on the dye inks in the following order, starting in the middle of the panel; also remember, in a circular motion, to sponge off some ink before applying to card stock.
     a. middle of card – Mustard Seed
     b. below that – Wild Honey
     c. below that – Rustic Wilderness
     d. now start above where the Mustard Seed is – Peacock Blue
     e. above that – Stormy Sky

4. Stamp the trees leaves with black ink and the earth line with Gathered Twiggs.

5. Trim the panel to 3” x 3.5”, adhere to brown panel. Using foam tape, adhere brown panel assembly to card base.

6. Attach a black jewel at each end of the sentiment.

Masculine Three-Panel Card

Hello again stamping friends!

I've taken a little summer break from my blog in order to spend more time outdoors to enjoy the beautiful sunny days.  It has been a real pleasure to spend time working in my flower beds, time in the pool, and just lounging on the deck reading a good book and sipping a cool drink.  But, now I'm hearing the call of the studio and I'm anxious to get back into paper crafting.

The card I have for you today is actually a very simple one, although it seems to be a really popular style right now.  I'm seeing these three-panel cards all over the stamping sites.

I wanted to try my hand at a three-panel card and had need of a masculine birthday card, plus I wanted to use the anchor DP that I had on hand, so this is what was created with these thoughts in mind.

The most important thing to remember when the cutting the patterned paper is to be sure to cut out the whole panel before you cut it into three panels.  This way you will be able to match your pattern when adhering it to the background panel.  Looking at the photo, you can see how the anchors match up from one panel to the next.  You can guess how I learned that!!  Trial and error. 😚 

One other thing to note is that I punched the label in both white and black.  I cut the black one in half and adhered the pieces to the ends of the white label.  Just enough black shows to nicely set off the label and the black brad made a perfect final touch.  Hope you enjoyed today's post.  Hope to see you at the next post!

White Card Base 4 ¼” x 11, fold at 5 ½.

Red Panel 4 “wide x 3 ¾” long
Diamond Check Paper 4” wide x 1 8/16” long
Cut 1 panel Anchor DP 3-3/8" wide x 3-3/4" long; then cut into three

    1-1/8" x 3-3/4" strips
Red Ribbon 9”(mine is 1" wide)
1 Black Brad

Scrap pieces of black and white

Stamping Up Story Label Punch

Directions

1. Top fold the card base.
2. Lay the red CS and the diamond check DP upside down,

        end to end, anchor together with tape.
3. Attach to card base.
4. Evenly space the anchor DP across the red CS.  Make sure you match up

       the pattern,
5. Wrap the ribbon entirely around the card front, covering the place where

       the two papers meet, and attach both ends to the front of the card.

Good News and a Balloon Birthday Card

Hello friends,

I'm happy to report that finally I have a new RSS feed for my blog and emails should be sent out as before.  What a relief!

Today I have for you a fun birthday card in the shape of a balloon.  The red background you see is not part of the card.  The actual card is round and white and is only laying a piece of red card stock 

Use a 4" circle die or punch to make two circle panels from white card stock.  At the top of the circle being used for the back of the card, score 1/2".  Burnish the score line, then glue the flap to the back of the front circle panel.  Draw the neck of a balloon (where the air is blown into the balloon, with an extra length on it to use for gluing the neck to the panels.  Cut out two of them.

From Happy Birthday patterned paper, cut one 4" round panel.  Use one of the neck tabs to trace around it on the patterned paper.  Cut it out and glue to the neck tab on the front of the card.  On the patterned 4" paper circle, stamp or draw balloon strings.  Attach the patterned paper circle to the front of the card.  Glue the second neck tab to the back of the card back circle.  

Punch circles from different colors of card stock and glue to the top of the balloon strings.  The red balloon is two 3D'd circles.  From red card stock, punch a birthday sentiment.  

For the tail of the balloon, I used some black twine to tie a bow on the neck of the balloon.  Then I curled the extra length into a couple of circles and glue them together.

Hello to you and Hello Spring!  I'm seeing all kinds of little green shoots coming up in my flower beds since the weather has warmed up so much.  That and the beautiful sunshine is making my thoughts turn to making cards with flowers.  The fun fold that I'm sharing with you today is one I saw on Dawn's Stamping Thoughts, where you can find great tutorials.  This card is called a Shadow Box Frame card.  The flower layers are mounted to give dimension to the card front.

Here you see the open card.  Don't you just love the little blue bird perched on the basket!  For this type of card, it is best to use a heavy card stock with designs on both sides.  I used Copic Markers to color the image.

This view shows how much the frame stands out from the card.  Another plus is that the opened card stands up really well.  This style doesn't topple over very easily.

Dahlia Birthday Wishes

We have a friend who is wild about Dahlias.  He spends hours upon hours doing all that is necessary to keep them in beautiful bloom for the whole season.  And then he faithfully digs up the bulbs in the fall, divides, sorts, labels, and packages them for the next spring.  Frankly, I have never seen such a variety of Dahlias in any one person's yard.  Believe me, it's exquisite!  With that in mind, I decided to make a Dahlia themed birthday card for him.  Although I'm sure he would be pleased with any color of Dahlia, I decided to go with a more neutral, masculine look for the card.  Take a look.

For background, I added a black panel.  On top of that I added a panel cut from Graphic 45 Good 'ol Sports collection. I thought a border would look nice around the flower, so I fussy cut the Dahlia and then traced it onto a piece of card stock, cut it out, and then mounted the Dahlia onto it.  I like the added dimension.  I also mounted the striped panel for added character.

For continuity, I carried over to the inside of the card a striped panel and the die cut that matches the front of the card.  I can hardly wait to send it to him!
