Bible Illustrating and Journaling Psalm 56:8

Annie’s Ink-Lings

A happy hello to you!
Yesterday I spent almost all day in my studio doing some of my favorite things - card making, bulletin board design for our church library, and illustrating and journaling in my Inspire Bible.

This is my bible illustrating and journaling of Psalm 56:8, "You keep track of all my sorrows.  You have collected all my tears in your bottle.  You have recorded each one in Your book."

The journaling part was done as a "tip-in" page that can be lifted to read the bible page.  A tip-in page is an inserted page which is connected in the margin with a 1/8 strip of Scor-Tape.  Double-stick tape can also be used.

This is what I journaled:At the time that David wrote this psalm, the Philistines had captured him and he was a prisoner of war. David had reason to cry and be sorrowful because of his suffering. The idea behind the keeping of “tears in a bottle” is remembrance. David is expressing a deep trust in God — God will remember his sorrow and tears and will not forget about him. The fact that God remembers us and our sufferings should be very comforting. Often, obedience and following Jesus create real suffering and real tears. But God remembers our sufferings and has promised to more than make up for it. God is a tenderhearted Father to us, a God who feels with us and weeps with us (Exodus 3:7; John 11:33–35).Our tears are not futile. God knows each of His children intimately, and every tear we shed has meaning to Him. He remembers our sorrow as if He kept each tear in a bottle. In the end, He will share His joy with us when “‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” (Revelation 21:4).

I pray that this scripture touches your heart as it did mine.

Blessings,

Annie

Baptism Congratulations!

Hello on this beautiful sun shiny morning!

No wind so far and no rain.  It is such a treat after having rainy, windy weather for a week or so.
My project this morning is the result of a request from a friend for a baptism card.  I find it amusing that sometimes it takes me a couple of hours to decide on card stock, sentiments, dies, etc., and only about a half hour to make the card.  Finally, however, it all came together and I think my friend will like the result.  Hopefully, it will inspire some creative ideas for you.

Here is a list of the products I used.

Baptism stamp by My Sentiments Exactly #S118-10

Bangle Chain Punch Card

Hello papercrafters,

Today I'm sharing a card that I taught at my last class.  I saw a similar card on Pinterest, but was not able to trace back to the creator.  Whoever it might be, thank you for the column idea.

The card size is 5 1/2 inches by 11 inches, top folded.  I used the Martha Stewart Bangle Chain Punch to create the side columns.  The center dry-embossed panel was made using a border embossing folder from the set called Raspberry Frame Set by Sizzix.

The sentiment was stamped on a die cut from KaiserCraft Oval Vintage Frame, then adhered to an oval cut with a die in the Spellbinders Nestabilities Classic Ovals Small set.

I embossed a small white panel using Cuttlebug Swiss Dots, then from it I punched 4 butterflies - 3 for the outside and 1 for the inside.  Any butterfly punch will do, preferably 3 sizes.

Even though it is a very quick and easy card, it looks pretty classy.  Thanks for checking in today.

Blessings,
Annie

Z-Fold Popup Box

Hello!

What a perfect day for a card making project.  The sun is brightly shining, white clouds in a beautiful blue sky; but with a cold wind blowing, it is only 52 degrees not counting wind chill.  So I just settled myself into my studio and got started.

Since I've been wanting to make one of the Z-Fold Popup Box cards for a long, today is the day.  I wanted to make my box into a wooden crate, but not having the crate die that is on the market, I set about designing my own with what I materials I already have.  It was certainly a challenge, however it was tremendous fun.  Here are a couple of pictures showing the finished card.

     a. Stamp the Crate/Box panel with the woodgrain stamp.
     b. Punch two windows in the front side of the Crate/Box.
     c. Glue the grass pieces inside but so they are sticking through the windows.
     d. Glue the green background panel on the back of the windows panel.
     e. With redline tape, adhere the tab to the backside box panel, and then to card base.
     f. Put redline tape on the left side panel of the crate/box and adhere to the second "Z" panel.
