Wreath of Thanksgiving

Annie’s Ink-Lings

Stepping out of the box, I wanted my Thanksgiving Day cards to be a color scheme out of the ordinary – but not too far out. Blue always goes well with orange, but I wanted to go beyond the normal, so I chose a dark turquoise card stock that had a pre-embossed pattern on it. The center decorative card stock strip was just the perfect match and a nice way to add a little more detail and eye appeal.

I die cut the wreath in a shade of brown and one of tan, gluing them together, one on top of the other. I used the same colors for the bow, but die cut an extra one out of the dark turquoise card stock, then layering the three colors together, with the dark turquoise one on top.  To the center of the bow, I gued a golden brown sequin.  It’s a fun and simple card but still projects a card with lots of interest. It’s really fun to combine an assortment of dies.  I hope you've gotten a few ideas or inspiration from today's post.

Beautiful Autumn and a Heart of Red

Annie’s Ink-Lings

A card on Pinterest inspired me to make this card.  I love the pairing of fall leaves with a big red heart.  I used Stampin' Up Be Mine Stitched Framelits.  And of course, the sentiment is perfect for the design, which is from Stampin' Up Beautiful Autumn stamp set.  The leaves were made with the punches that were bundled with the stamp set.

The Stampin' Up Ornate Floral embossing folder provides a soft, delicate background, and really makes the red heart pop.  I'm hoping to make this card with a Thanksgiving message inside for some of my Thanksgiving cards.  I hope you will give it a try.  It's really fast to make, but still has a touch of elegance to it.

Products Used

So glad you took the time to stop in today.

Elegant Thanksgiving Wreath

Annie’s Ink-Lings

Need a quick card for Thanksgiving?  Here  is an idea that can be whipped up in just a few minutes.  For a background, emboss the card using Sizzix Elegant Wreath folder, or your choice.  Daisy punch several times from scrapbook paper and cream card stock to make a decorative flower.  For the flower center I used a tiny flower punch and a tiny starburst punch, with a jewel in the center.  I used a couple of pieces of green grosgrain ribbon for the leaves.   I used my Stampin' Up Classic Label punch to punch the cream label and then stamped with Inkadinkado #99450-K, and colored the fruit with Prismacolor pencils.  The card size is 51/2 x 41/4, top folded.  Quick but still a bit elegant!

Wishing you a very Happy Thanksgiving and special blessings,
Annie

Thankful Mice

Annie’s Ink-Lings

So much has been going on that I’m very happy to finally get around to making some Thanksgiving cards.  It appears that I was feeling whimsical today and didn’t realize it.  My intent was to make a nice autumn Thanksgiving card.  However, when I spotted the little Thankful Mice stamps in my “Holidays” drawer, I knew it was time to use them again.  So, my original plan was put on hold for another day.  The little pilgrim mice and slice of cheese are so fun to design with.  It’s really great to have the matching dies, so no fussy cutting.  The card is fairly straightforward, so I felt directions weren’t really needed, except that I used foam tape to mount the mice for a nice 3-D effect.  Just follow the picture and have fun.

Bee Thankful

Annie’s Ink-Lings

Recently I decided to do a sketch card challenge that I saw at Lisa's Stamp Studio and see where it would take me.  As I've said before, my mind has a mind of its own and sometimes when I attempt to follow a card sketch, I wind up way off the mark as I visualize a whole new design.  This time, pretty much, I managed to stay focused.  I decided to use a Stampin' Up stamp called Bee Thankful, which has an adorable little bee that is fun to use separately although it is part of a larger image.  Then the next step was to determine how to use this little bee and my first thought was to make a Thanksgiving card using the sentiment "Be Thankful."  Well, Thanksgiving may be  out the window as I decided to use shades of pink and have the bee peeking up out of a teacup.  What fun it was to figure this all out and create this really sweet, easy card.  See what you think!

Here's the card sketch from Lisa's Stamp Studio so you can start from basics.

Fall-Themed Thanksgiving Card

Annie’s Ink-Lings

Hi friends,

Back again with the third and last fall themed card, but with the sentiment of "Give Thanks."  My idea is to use it as a Thanksgiving greeting card.  For some unknown reason, I've been drawn to wreaths lately, so once again a wreath die was used for the focal point of the card.  I really like how the wreath shows up on the background image.  It was made using the Stampin' Up Hardwood stamp with Walnut Stain Distress Ink on red card stock.  The gold foil berries and the red foil bow give just the right amount of shine to the card.  I hope you like it, too.

1.  Stamp red panel with Walnut Stain Distress Ink and dry with heat gun.
2.  Trim panel to 4” x 5 ¼”.
3.  At the bottom of the panel on the right, stamp the “Give Thanks” sentiment and adhere the panel to card base.
4.  Trim the dark brown acorn so there is only the top portion left.  With the light brown acorn trim off the stem.  Glue the 2 pieces together.
5.  Glue wreath to center of red panel and arrange the elements as follows:  pine branch, fern pieces, gold berries, acorn, and bow.

White Card Base 8 ½ x 5 ½ inches
Red Panel 5 ¼ x 4 inches

Celebrating Thanksgiving!

Hi friends,

Thanksgiving Day is fast approaching.  Now that my cards are made, I can concentrate on planning a menu and doing the shopping.

All through the year we have things to be thankful for, but isn't it wonderful that we have an annual day set aside where we show special thanks for our blessings, family, and friends.  I love making and sending Thanksgiving Day cards, so today I'm going to share with you two more designs.

I love this clean and simple design.  The colors of the image and the layered panel just really pop out against the white background which is partially embossed.  It is a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4", side folded card.  The burgundy panel measures 4" x 2 1/2" after using the scallop border punch.  The white panel is 4" x 2" and stamped with a Kaleidacolor rainbow dye ink pad called Autumn Leaves (by Tsukineko).   Emboss the large 5 1/4" x 4" white panel, leaving 2" unembossed at the bottom.  I used the Stampin' Up/Sizzix embossing folder called Square Lattice, one of my favorite backgrounds.  After all pieces are attached together, wrap white ribbon around the whole assembly and tie a bow.  Then after you have stamped Happy Thanksgiving at the bottom of the panel, it is ready to be adhered to the card base.  For the finishing touch, I embellished the three flowers in the image with clear jewels.

The image stamp is by Inkadinkado #98700-DD (Pumpkin Trail).

I just have to smile every time I look at these little Pilgrim mice.  Who knows - maybe their ancestors came over on the Mayflower, too!  This sweet little stamp set is by Lawn Fawn called "Thankful Mice" (LF936), which coordinates with the "Thankful Mice" dies (LF937).

This card is the same size as the first card.  The embossed panel (Thankful Background & Borders Set by Tim Holtz) is layered onto a black panel, then attached to the card base.  A ribbon was tied around the sentiment panel in a square knot before it was attached to the decorative paper panel.

Well, there you have it.  Thank you for joining me today.  I wish you a very blessed Happy Thanksgiving Day!

Annie

Thankful Mice!

Hello again, friends.

Just a quick post to share a Thanksgiving shaker card I just made. I used my new stamps and dies from Lawn Fawn, called "Thankful Mice."  They are just adorable little pilgrims!  Also, I loved making the cheese confetti to go behind the window frame along with the sequins. Included in the set is a cheese stamp and a die to match.  So cute! There are lots of shaker card tutorials on YouTube so I won't post directions.  Card size is 5 1/2" x 4 1/4".   I'm really looking forward to creating more designs using this little pair.

Thanks for looking at my card.

Celebrating Thanksgiving!

Hi Card Makers,

Do you love Thanksgiving as much as I do?  I remember to be thankful all through the year, but in November it's especially fun because I get to make Thanksgiving cards and send them out.  Actually I started making these particular cards in October so I would have them ready for my card class.  I have several more designs I want to try and time is flying by!

Ribbon Leaf Card
This card idea came from Pinterest, although mine looks a little different as I used an embossing folder and leaf die that I had on hand.  So don't be concerned if you don't have exactly what I used.  Happily, you can use whatever you have and it will still look great, including the ink pad colors!  For a different effect, you could use Washi tape or strips of several colors of card stock.

Craft Card Base:  8 1/2 x 5 1/2", top folded
Craft Panel:  5 1/4 x 4"
Various colors and widths of Ribbon
Sizzix Textured Impressions Embossing Folder - Dots
Cheery Lynn Designs Die - Large Leaves #2
Fresco Chalk Ink Pad - Tuscan Earth
Brilliance Ink Pad - Moonlight White

Die cut the leaf in the lower right side of the panel.  Emboss, then lightly sponge with Moonlight White.  Distress edges with Tuscan Earth.

Turn panel over and run a tape runner around the leaf cutout.  Lay pieces of ribbon across the cutout, alternating colors and widths.  About 1" from the top of the panel, adhere the ends of a piece of red ribbon to the backside of the panel.  Adhere the panel to the card base.

Make a small tag and stamp with a sentiment.  Punch a 1/8" hole at the top of the tag and tie it to the left center of the red ribbon with Bakers Twine.  Make a red ribbon bow and use a glue dot to glue the bow onto the ribbon.  Stamp a sentiment inside.

Apple Wreath Card
Here is a card using the Apple Wreath stamp set from Our Daily Bread Designs.  I stamped it once on green card stock and then stamped the apple section onto red card stock.  Both the wreath and the apples were hi-lighted with color pencils and then cut out.  The wreath is layered onto the polka dot panel but I used mounting tape for the apples.  This card is also a top folded card, 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.

The  cute little pumpkin on this card is stamped, colored, cut out, and then mounted over the ribbon and embossed background which has been distressed with a light grade of sandpaper.  I really like the writing of the Happy Thanksgiving stamp.

Pumpkin - PSX Stamps
Happy Thanksgiving - Rubber Soul
Tim Holtz Alterations Embossing Folder - Thanksgiving Background

I was not successful in getting the background to show on the white panel on this card.  I used the Tim Holtz Alterations Hardwood Embossing Folder.  I wish you could see how great it looks.  If you have one of your own, then you know what I'm talking about it.  The leaf stamp is one of my favorites in my leaves collection.  It was made by The Rubbernecker Stamp Co.  I love how the red stands out on the white background.  I used dimensionals to make the leaf stand out even more.
Among the many things I'm thankful for, I'm thankful for those of you who take the time to look at my blog and I'm thankful to be able to share with you.  Thanksgiving Day is only a couple of weeks away.  Remember this line from an old hymn, "Count your blessings, name them one by one . . . .)  I pray that your day is special and full of blessings.
