Slap On a Little Lipstick

Annie’s Ink-Lings

Hello on this bright and sunny morning!  Another humor card is showcased for you today.  These ducks and the bucket are just the cutest stamps from Rosie’s Roadshow.  I was delighted when this card and the Crazy Birds humor card I posted a few days ago were snatched up from the card carousel in the church library about 20 minutes after I placed them there.  Yay!  My cards are purchased by donation and the proceeds are used to supplement the library budget to buy books, DVD’s, and library supplies.  I am so happy to have this church ministry.  Reading is one of my most favorite past times, so being the church librarian is the perfect spot of service for me.

Here is today's card.  Ever have a day when you felt like this?  I've had several lately it seems.

I love this die set.  It comes with a circle die that’s made to fit perfectly in the center of the Circle Film Die.  It's great not having to look for a circle size to match.  The ends of the ribbon are taped to the back of the patterned paper circle; the bow was made separately and glued in place.

The sentiment was computer generated.  There’s been times when I would have liked to hide my head under a bucket – especially when lipstick just wasn’t going to cut it! ðŸ˜‰

Make a little slit at the front rim of the bucket so you can slip it over the duck’s head.  All the images were fuzzy cut.

Smile – It’s Your Birthday!

Annie’s Ink-Lings

Back again with another smile. This time on a birthday card. I have a friend who is a photography buff, and his birthday is fast approaching. Wanting to go with the photography theme, this is what I came up with for a special card for him.

First, I stamped the Smile sentiment centered at the top of the card.  Using the starburst stamp and Shabby Shutters Distress Ink, I randomly stamped on the front of the card to make the background.  The filmstrip die cut was adhered to a strip of Authentic designer card stock, then layered onto a strip of Sage card stock.  Next, I adhered the layered strip diagonally across the card and cut off where the ends over lapped.

Just to the give the greeting labels a bit of a different look, I fussy cut along the top of the white card stock, and then followed the same cut on the green and black card stock.

The little camera was mounted with foam tape.

Bird Crazy Humor - Don't Ask Me!

Annie’s Ink-Lings

Hello there,

We all like a bit of humor in our lives.  Even more so now, with our physical distancing resulting in loneliness, sometimes depression, or just feeling sad and not knowing what to do with ourselves.  The idea came to me that perhaps I should add a new category to my card making - humor.  Yes, that's right, humor.  Maybe I could give those around me something to smile about, cause a chuckle or two, maybe even a laugh.  This is my first card in this new category.

For the individual words, I looked for stamps in my stash that had the words and style that I wanted to us.  Then stamped them on white card stock and cut them to size.  This is a great way to make a perfect phrase.

I love how the bird's eyes appear to be looking up at someone with the expression that says, "Don't ask me . . ." and then his follow up on the inside.

Did this cause a smile on your face?

The "twiggy" little branches actually are the off cuts from a wreath die.  These little bits and pieces are often just what you need for a project.  I always save them.

Take a look at the pebbles.  Here's a tip on how to make your pebbles exactly match a color in your card.  I just used a circle hand punch to punch 3 little circles from the yellow card stock, glued them into place, then covered them with a pebble.  So easy and so coordinated!

Here's my product list:
Tim Holtz Bird Talk stamps & dies
Honey Bee Stitched Diamonds Dies
Off cuts from Cottage Cutz Build-a-Grpevine-Wreath
For the body:  Copic Markers B41 and B32
For the beak, legs & feet:  Copic Mark Y17
For the eyes:  Ranger Black Enamel Accents
Pebbles
For the inside sentiment:  computer generated
For the phrase:  individually stamped words from a variety of
    sentiments stamps

It was so good to have you stop in today.  Come back soon to see my next humorous card.

Blessings,
Annie

Z-Fold Card In the Pink with Scallops

Annie’s Ink-Lings

Hello again,

Today I’m sharing another card from my Tuesday card class.  I chose the colors of pink and green because there is so much of those colors in my flower gardens, along with butterflies flitting here and there.  This Z-Fold is a bit different from the regular Z-Fold card as the card base Z is scored at one set of measurements and the scallop border is scored at a different set of measurements, thereby making Z’s on both sides of the card.  I really like the effect it gives.

Here are the directions:

Measurements
Pink Card Base 4-1/4 x 11 inches; scored at 2-3/4 and 5-1/2 inches
Green Panels: two at 2-1/2 x 4 inches and one at 4 x 5-1/4 inches
Designer Paper Panels: two at 2-1/4 x 3-3/4 inches and one at 5 x 3-3/4 inches

Sentiment Panels for Inside of Card
White 1-1/2 x 2-1/2 inches
Green 1-3/4 x 2-3/4 inches

Sentiment Panel for Back of Card
White 4 x 4 x 5-1/4 inches. Stamp or write a sentiment before adhering the panel in place.

Border Panel
White: 3/4 x 11 inches. Score at 5-1/2 inches and 8-1/4 inches.
Pink: 3/8 x 11 inches

Dies
Memory Box Precious Butterflies Dies – Die cut 3 small butterflies from a
    piece of coordinating designer paper.
Impression Obsession Die Thinking of You

Punch
EK Success Scallop Border Punch

Stamp
Great Impressions Stamps – Live each day #C298S

1. Score card base at 2-3/4 and 5-1/2 inches.
2. Adhere the green panels and the designer paper to the card base.
3. Stamp or write a sentiment on the white sentiment panel and adhere to
           back of card.
4. Punch the ¾ x 11 inch white strip with the scallop border punch.
5. Use score tape to adhere pink strip to white scalloped border.
6. Score the border strip at 5-1/2 inches and 8-1/4 inches.
7. Glue sentiment strip to back of scalloped border with the right end
just short of the 5-1/2 score line.
8. With card lying flat, align the border with the scallops meeting the tops
        of the green panels.
9. Attach across the front card panel, and then from the 8-1/4 inch score
            line to the end.
10. For front of card, stamp sentiment on the small white CS, layer onto green
CS, and adhere to 3rd Z panel.
11. Curl wings of butterflies, then glue 3 butterflies to front of card and one
at the top right of the sentiment panel.
12. Adhere one jewel on each butterfly.

Thank you for stopping in.   I hope you enjoy making the card.

Blessings,

Pink Vellum Wreath Card

Annie’s Ink-Lings

Hello stampers,

Do you like cards that are feminine, elegant, and easy?  Then, here’s a card I think you’ll like.  It was cased from one I saw either on FB or Pinterest.  I forgot to write down the maker's name.  I’ve made this card in pink, one of my favorite colors, but I think it would look very pretty in lavender or yellow.  What do think?

I love the vellum background which I embossed with the Stampin' Up Country Floral 3d embossing folder.

To adhere the vellum panel to the card base, I used Scrapbook Adhesives E-Z Runner Permanent Fine Adhesive.  This tape is absolutely perfect to us with vellum as it does not show through the vellum.  I highly recommend it.

Here are some directions for making the card:

1. Pink card base 8-1/2 x 5-1/2
2. Vellum panel 5-3/8 x 4-1/8 inches
3. Emboss medium weight vellum panel with Stampin’ Up Country Floral
    Embossing folder.
4. Die cut one wreath using Cottage Cutz Build-a-Grapevine-Wreath.
5. Glue the wreath to the vellum panel.
6. On the back of the vellum panel, place 4 small strips of Vellum Tape
    behind the wreath.
7. On white card stock, die cut one each:
Savvy Dies Tall Branches with Leaves #10108 and
            Savvy Dies Wishing Flower #10090.
8. Sponge the leaves with Distress Ink Lucky Clover.
9. Sponge the flower with Distress Ink Worn Lipstick.
10. Glue them to the left side of the wreath.
11. Tie a twine bow with a 10-inch piece of twine and attach on stems.
12. Stamp “Friends” sentiment on pink card stock and punch out with
    Stampin’ Up small oval punch.
13. Glue the sentiment label to the lower right side of the wreath.
14. Add a drop of Nuvo Crystal Drops Gloss - Bubblegum Blush to the
    center of the flower.

Now it's your turn. Have fun!

Blessings,
Annie

Birthday Card for a Gardener

Annie’s Ink-Lings

 Hello and Welcome!

The card I’m sharing with you today is one made straight from my heart – a birthday card for my son.  The theme of the card is gardening.  He inherited a love of gardening from his grandfather.  Beside having a green thumb, he is very artistic in laying out his garden with trellises, arbors, towers (which he builds himself), plots, and pots.  I was amazed when I saw his green bean plants growing across an arbor, with the green beans hanging down for easy picking.  Yes, I’m one of those proud mothers. 😊

But let’s get back to card making.  Here's a look at the card.

Start with a white A2 size card base.

I used a Die-Namics die to cut a frame from white card stock, then sponged it with Brushed Corduroy and Frayed Burlap Distress Inks.  Next, I embossed it with Tim Holtz Woodgrain embossing folder.  The frame was layered over a decorative paper panel before adhering to the card base.

All the images are from Art Impressions and Karen Lockhart and were stamped on white card stock then colored with Copic Markers.  Next came the fussy cutting and deciding about which ones to put in each of the frames.

I especially love the little pot with Happy Birthday stamped on it.  It was adhered with 3-D tape so it would stand out from the others.  The sentiment in white was computer generated.

I hope you enjoyed the post today.  For me, stamping is the most fun when I’m making a card for a loved one.

Blessings,

Annie
