Love Your Neighbor

Hello friends,

Thanks for stopping by today.  A few days ago I completed a poster and display for my church library.  I love it when I can use my paper crafting tools in my ministry work.  I saw a similar poster on Pinterest and adapted it to fit my purpose.  You can see it in these two pictures. 

The wording on the poster is, "We are each unique and beautiful, but together we are a masterpiece!"

The theme is about loving your neighbors world wide.   As you know, love can break all kinds of barriers - skin color, different languages, customs.  As Jesus taught us, "The first commandment is . . . you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. . . . And the second , like it, is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'  There is no other commandment greater than these."  Mark 12:30-31

Thank You! - One Sheet Wonder Mini Pocket Folder

I am one happy gal and excited about how this little project turned out!  While I was brainstorming for an idea to make an unusual thank you card, this little folder is what came together. 

I used the “one sheet wonder” pattern (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uGGdpT_vG0) which gave me 8 pockets to fill and decorate. 

The first 6 pockets are individually lettered from the word “THANKS. 

Each of these 6 pockets holds a tag that has the matching letter at the top over a Bible verse that starts with that letter.  The 7^th pocket holds a tag on which to write a message and sign my name.  The 8^th pocket holds a gift card.   I used a border/edger punch on the tops of all the tags. 

The front of the folder has a stamped and layered sentiment attached over the length of ribbon, which holds the ribbon in place.  So fun - I hope you will give it a try!  Let me know if you would like to have the Bible verses I used and I will email them to you.

Love That Chocolate Dipped!

Hi friends,
I want to share with you about a little surprise I found while shopping at my local Bi-Mart.  The store actually doesn't carry much in the way of stamping/scrapping supplies, but I always stroll by that section just in case there might be something new and interesting.  I'm not much of a card kit person, but this kit was on sale for such a low price that I couldn't resist the purchase of it.  The kit is called, "Chocolate Dipped Artful Card Kit," by Hot Off the Press, Inc.  The custom designed paper is very pretty and colorful.  And all the die-cuts and cut-outs are well designed in interesting shapes -- made me really want to use them instead of tossing in the waste can.  You can learn more about the kit by clicking on the above link.  I posted this particular link just so you would have a quick way to see what the kit looks like.  I'm sure there are many places online where you can purchase it if you're interested.

So here are the cards that I've made so far with this kit and I still have oodles of paper left to make more.  I'm really happy that I took a chance on this one!

Live the Virtues

Hi there, friends,

Recently I hosted a swap of pages for a  "Virtues Book."  Each participant chose a virtue and illustrated the chosen virtue on a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card stock page - front and back, and then decorated and embellished it.  We each designed our own cover and chose our own binding method.  I used my Paper Drill to drill a hole in the upper left-hand corner, then  fastened it together with a metal binder ring.  Finally, I added several black and colorful yellow ribbons to the metal ring.  This darling little book is  now displayed on my coffee table.  I love doing collaborative projects because they showcase so many styles of personal creativeness -- always a delight to see.  This beautiful little book will be wonderful for times of meditation, to sit and reflect on the meaning of each virtue and how Jesus teaches us to seek them and let them become a part of who we are.  I like, too, that it will be a constant reminder of how God is molding me to be more Christ-like in my character.  Best of all is, and it's no accident I'm sure, that I'm always finding my dear Lord right in the middle of my paper crafts hobby.  Awesome and all to His glory!!!

How I Love Christmas!

I know, I know -- it's only Dec. 15, but I've been in the Christmas spirit for over a month now. So sorry I haven't been able to post sooner, but I've been having such a good time doing all these Christmasy things. Read a wonderful book called "The Magi," watched a spiritually moving DVD called "The Bethlehem Star," did my annual reading of another book called "The Twelve Cats of Christmas," have a couple of Christmas movies to watch this weekend, attended the Holiday Spice Variety Show earlier this month, plus my stamp club's annual Christmas Breakfast, and my Bible Study class Christmas Party. And will attend the Mannheim Steamroller Christmas Show on Thursday evening. Whoo-eee, too much fun!!! And I'm so looking forward to Christmas Eve for our Christmas Candlelight Service, and Christmas morning, when we do our Bible reading of the birth of Jesus, my Lord and Savior. Oh I do love this time of year!

Started making my Christmas cards in November and have had a wonderful time of ideas and creativity. So I've posted just a few of the designs to share with you and some money holders made from Stampin' Up treat cups. There's a hundred things you can do with these little treat cups. In fact, one of my dear friends sent me a huge list of ways to use them -- let me know if you're interested in a copy. If your muse has left you and you're stuck for ideas, maybe these will get you going.

These little treat cup ornaments are filled with money with only the face on the bill showing. They look really cute hanging on the tree. Well, back to the workbench -- I still have some ideas and stamps I want to play with.

My prayer for you is that you experience the true meaning of Christmas this year. May you love and obey our Heavenly Father, believe that Jesus is the son of God, and be filled with the Holy Spirit. Wishing you the Merriest of Christmases and a joyful celebration of His birth.
