Gardening Anniversary Card

Annie’s Ink-Lings

Today I made an anniversary card for a couple who aren't much into hearts and flowers, so I focused on what they really enjoy -- gardening!  I do believe that each of them has two green thumbs. 😁  They grow most everything from seed, starting sometime in late winter or so, in order to have their little plants ready for spring planting.  During harvest time, they happily give away a lot of their bountiful crops, but also do a lot of canning and freezing for the year ahead.  How wonderful it is that they can work  side-by-side and enjoy their time together.  I pray that they will have many more happy seasons together. 💓

This is a simple card but illustrates a big story of their life.

Trapeze Fold - Beautiful Snowflakes

Annie’s Ink-Lings

Check out my other cards
 at

Finally, we had our first snow of the season.  It all melted by the next day, but while the flakes were coming down, it was beautiful to watch.  All sizes and shapes – they’re amazing.  Thoroughly inspired, I started looking through my supplies for snowflake dies.  This is my first snowflake card of the season.  It’s called a trapeze fold card and totally new to me.  There are several videos on YouTube which were totally helpful in making this card.  More simple than you would imagine.  Take a look.

The color of the sequins did not photograph properly.  A couple of them look black, but they are really a pretty shade of pink.

Here is a diagram of the card base where you can see the score and fold lines and also indicating valley fold and mountain fold.  I hope you'll give it a try.

Measurements

White Card Stock 11” x 5 ¾”

DSP 5 ½” x 5 ½”

Scrap of White Card Stock for tag and die cut.

Supplies

Stampin’ Up Snowfall Thinlits Dies

Sentiment from Stampin’ Snow is Glistening

Stampin’ Up Stitched Nestled Labels Dies

Scoring and Folding for Card Base

·       Fold the white card base in half, open it up flat with the inside face up.  Make pencil marks along the score line at 1 ½”, 2 ¼”, 3 ½”, 4 ¼”.  See the diagram below.

·        Make score lines from the marks in the center, two off of them scored from the marks to the left corner; then the other two score from the marks to the right corner.  Turn the card around and score the same way on that side.

·        With the outside of the card base facing up, the middle score lines are mountain folds and the outside lines are valley folds.

After the folding is completed, if the bottom corners don’t match - with the card closed, you can cut off 1/8” off the bottom to even it out

Cutting for DP Layering Panel and Finishing

   ·     At the top of the DP, make a pencil dot at 2 ¼” and 3 1/4”.  Then cut from the markings to the lower corner on each side.

 ·        Adhere the DP Panel, aligning it evenly to the top of the card.  Cut off any excess at the bottom if necessary.

·        Die cut the snowflakes and adhere to DP panel, along with the tag stamped with a sentiment.

·        I added several pink sequins to the side sections, using glue dots.  Sadly, a few of the sequins look like they are black, but I could not get a better picture.

Wreath of Thanksgiving

Annie’s Ink-Lings

Stepping out of the box, I wanted my Thanksgiving Day cards to be a color scheme out of the ordinary – but not too far out. Blue always goes well with orange, but I wanted to go beyond the normal, so I chose a dark turquoise card stock that had a pre-embossed pattern on it. The center decorative card stock strip was just the perfect match and a nice way to add a little more detail and eye appeal.

I die cut the wreath in a shade of brown and one of tan, gluing them together, one on top of the other. I used the same colors for the bow, but die cut an extra one out of the dark turquoise card stock, then layering the three colors together, with the dark turquoise one on top.  To the center of the bow, I gued a golden brown sequin.  It’s a fun and simple card but still projects a card with lots of interest. It’s really fun to combine an assortment of dies.  I hope you've gotten a few ideas or inspiration from today's post.

Hey Chick - Happy Birthday from One Chick to Another

Annie’s Ink-Lings

One of my dear friends asked me if I would show her how to cut and paste pictures. So there we were looking at cards in Pinterest. She made a fuss over the cards made with the Stampin' Up chickens.  We spent some time just looking and laughing at all the cards we could find using the chickens stamps. I knew right then that the birthday card I would make for her would have to be with the chickens.  My inspiration came from a card I saw at Beth's Paper Crafts.

For the front of the card, I stamped the sentiments on small white paper strips, cut them to size, and adhered them with foam tape.  All of the images are glued in place.

Stamp a sentiment on the little sign after you die cut.  On the inside of the card, I added a slight shading on the ground under the chicken and the sign.

Stamp the four chicken images with Memento black ink on the white card stock and die cut.  I used Barn Door Distress Ink to lightly shade the three chickens for the front of the card.  For the chicken inside the card, I used Mustard Seed Distress Ink.  For the chicken combs and the cupcake, I used Stampin’ Blends Real Red.

Measurements and Card Stock
Light Blue Card Base 8” x 9”, scored at 4”, then fold.
Red Card Stock Layer 3 7/8” x 8 7/8”, adhere to card base.
White Card Stock Panel 3 ¾” x 8 ¾”, cut 2 (one for the inside)
Extra White Card Stock for stamping images

Die Cuts for the Card

  • 3 corn stalks from a shade of green and 3 more from a darker shade of green
  • 7 corn husks from the darker shade of green and 7 corn cob pieces from yellow
  • 3 picket fences, 1 sign and 1 chicken wire from light brown or tan card stock
  • 2 streamers from light blue card stock (the same color as the card base)
