Card-Top Diagonal Fold Card

Annie’s Ink-Lings

What I have for you today is a really delightful card.  I first made this style of card over 20 years ago.  When I came across it while browsing through my saved cards, I just knew I had to share it with you.  The original card was made in shades of lavender and purple.  Wanting to do something different, this time I chose shades of green.  While there are quite a few panels to cut, once cut it really doesn't take that long to put it together.  The hardest part was trying to simplify the directions for you.  If you have questions, be sure to contact me.  The directions turned out to be a bit lengthy, but I wanted to make them as clear as possible.  So, take a look and see what you think.

Inside View

Card Base Measurements:  5-1/2 x 11.”  Fold in half.  (I used green card stock)

First card top layer (solid color vellum):  5-1/4 x 5-1/4”  (I used white
     checked vellum).
Θ Second card top layer (thin Designer Paper):  5 x 5” (I used dark green
     patterned paper).
Third card top layer (vellum/same as first layer): 4-1/4 x 4-1/4”.
   1.      Using DS tape layer all these panels in order listed above.

*Card-Top Diagonal Fold Paper:  4 x 12” (Must be thin designer paper not card stock.  I used a multicolored green striped paper)
1.      Carefully score designer paper at 4” and 8” so as not to cut through
      the paper.
2.      Fold ends as shown in diagram below.
  a.      Fold the left bottom section up diagonally to the back to the first
         score line.
  b.      Fold the right top section down diagonally to the back to the
         second score line.

        c.  Fold both side sections over onto the middle section to overlap and
form a square.  Center and attach to the third card top layer.

To Complete Inside Card Top.
  1.  Cut a white checked vellum panel:  3-1/2 x 3-1/2”; cut it in half
       diagonally.
  2.  Die cut Hello sentiment from the green card stock used for the card
base and attach to left diagonal panel.
  3.  Attach bow.
  4.  On white card stock, cut Lenora Bloom flowers to attach to the right
diagonal panel, color with Copic Markers, and attach.
  5.  Cut a checked white vellum panel:  3-1/2 x 3-1/2”
        a.  On white card stock die cut Floral Circle and color with Copics;
attach inside the top diagonal fold panel onto the vellum panel.

To Complete the Inside of the Card.
  1.  Cut two designer paper panels:  5-1/4 x 5-1/4”.  Use the same paper as
       * above.
  2.  Cut one designer paper panel:  4-3/4 x 4-3/4”.  Use the same paper as
       Θ above.
  3.  Cut one vellum panel:  4 x 4”.
  4.  Cut one white card stock panel:  3-3/4 x 3-3/4”.  Stamp with
        sentiment stamp.
  5. Add ribbon.  See diagram below.
            a.  At about 3/8” from the top of the panel, punch 2 holes ½” apart.
            b.  From the front, thread each end of a 7” long ribbon through the
                 holes to the back.
            c.  Thread the ends back up through opposite holes.  Pull tight and
                 trim as needed.

  6.  Using DS tape, layer all these panels in order listed above.
