Triangle Fold-Over Card in Highland Heather & Green

Annie’s Ink-Lings

Making fancy fold cards is one of my favorite techniques.  This card is one I'm teaching to my class next Tuesday.  The gals always love to learn new fancy folds, so it should be a fun class for them.  I embossed the little green PT circle which gave it a nice textured look. The colors are bright and cheerful - just the right thing for a spring card. The rainbow jewels really reflect the colors of the green and highland heather.  Take a look.

You can make two cards from a single 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of card stock.  Basically, it is cut in half diagonally, the top flap folds down and the left flap is folded to the right.   See the scoring directions below before you cut the card stock.

Cutting Dimensions and Directions
1. Green cardstock base is 8 1/2″ x 11″. Score the cardstock in half in both directions – 5 1/2″ and 4 1/4″. Cut the green cardstock in half on the diagonal. This will produce two scored and cut cards.

2. Designer Paper is cut 4″ x 5 ¼″. Cut on the diagonal. If your pattern paper has a direction you will have to adapt the flaps to accommodate.
(Cut a coordinating Designer Paper for the upper flap if you want contrast.)

3. White cardstock inside layer is cut 4″ x 5 1/4″

4. Emboss green DP with Houndstooth EF. Die cut one 1 ¼” circle from it.

5. Die cut 2 circles from white cardstock, 1 ¾” and 2”.

6. Die cut 3 scalloped circles from lavender cardstock, 1 ¼”, 2”, and 2 3/8”. Cut three sizes in one color for the backing layer.

7. With green card base, fold the left flap over to the right along the score line. Fold the top flap down to match the left flap. Use bone folder.

8. Attach the DP triangle to the top of the left folded-over green triangle.

9. Attach the white cardstock panel to inside of card.

10. Stamp sentiment on 2” white circle.

11. Stamp flowers on 1 ¾” white circle. Color flowers all over with Light Highland Heather, then highlight with Dark Highland Heather; color leaves with Copic Marker Acid Green YG07.

12. Glue all the die cuts together as shown on card and arrange on card front.

13. Tie a green twine bow and glue in place or use a glue dot.

14. When the card is closed, the bottom of the large circle slips under the top of the medium circle to keep the card closed.

Sweet Treat Cup for Easter

Annie’s Ink-Lings

My cardmaking class is coming up in a short time, just before Easter weekend.  I thought it would be nice to make a special little something for my class members, so decided to see what I could create using the Stampin' Up Sweet Treat Cups.  Actually, I had forgotten that I still had some of the cups and was delighted that I found them in my supply closet.

I looked through my paper stash and found some really pretty plaid in bright spring colors, and then found some coordinating blue and pink card stock to use for the bases of the cups.  I then made a dash to the store to purchase some treats to fill the cups.  If you need a quick little treat, then this one is for you.

Here's what I used:

Stampin’ Up Floral Frames Dies

Stampin’ Up Sweet Treat Cups

Technique Tuesday Cross Die

Solid Color Card Stock for the Large Floral Die Cut 4”

Coordinating DP for the Smaller Floral Die Cut 3”

Yellow Card Stock (or coordinating color) for the Cross Die

Package of Goodies to Fill the Cups:  I used Peanut Butter Chocolate Trail Mix from Costco

A Golden Host of Daffodils

Annie’s Ink-Lings

Every spring when I see daffodils blooming all around the valley, I say to myself I'm going to be sure to plant some bulbs this fall.  But, alas, when planting time comes I'm just too tired from all the garden work and it's too cold to be out there.  So, I guess I'll just have to do with making daffodil cards and that's plenty of enjoyment for me.  Definetly a lot less work!  Take a look at today's creation.  My inspiration came from a card I saw on Pinterest.

The daffodils were stamped on white card stock then fussy cut. The two outside flower bunches were glued in place and the center one is 3D mounted.

The background was made using a spatter stamp (listed below).  For a finishing touch, I adhered 3 pretty pearls.

I I really like this sentiment.  It is from a poem written by William Wordsworth.

Here's what you'll need to make this card.

Measurements – Top Folding Card
Card Base White 5 ½” x 8 ½”, scored at 4 ¼”
DSP Panel 5 ½” x 4 1/8”
White Panel 5 ½” x 3 1/8”
Green Mat Panel 5 ½” x 3 3/8”
White Card Stock 4 ½” x 1” strip
Extra White Card for stamping 3 images

Stamps
Stampin’ Up: Daffodil Delight
Stampin’ Up: Color & Contour stamp set
Sentiment by A Stamp in the Hand: A Host of Golden Daffodils
Penny Black: Host of Daffodils

Embossing Folder
Stampin’ Up Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions EF

Stampin’ Blends
Dark and Light Daffodil Delight
Dark Shaded Spruce

Ink Pads
Memento Tuxedo Black
Distress Ink Mustard Seed

Additional Supplies
3D Tape
½” Score Tape
Needle Nose Glue Bottle
Craft Knife and Mat
Tim Holtz Craft Mat

Directions
1. Attach DP panel onto card front, then center green panel onto the DP panel. Set aside.

2. Using the Mustard Seed ink pad, stamp the long sentiment onto a 4 ½” x 1” strip of white card stock. Trim the strip on both long sides close to the words. Notch both ends.

3. Stamp the white panel using the spatter stamp from the Color & Contour stamp set in third generation. I stamped about 5 or 6 times.

4. Emboss the panel with the Subtle embossing panel.

5. Stamp the multiple daffodil stamp three times onto white card stock using Memento Tuxedo Black.

5. Color the daffodils all over with Light Daffodil Delight. Color the stamens of each flower with Dark Daffodil Delight, and also the inside edge of the petals.

6. Color the leaves with Dark Shaded Spruce.

7. Fussy cut the images.

8.` Optional: I used my craft knife to remove some of the white space between the flowers, however it is not necessary as the flowers will be on a white background.

9. On the left and right side of the white panel, glue one of the images of the daffodils. The third image is 3D mounted. To make a skinny roll of tape, cut a 4” strip of ½” Score Tape, stick it to the craft mat, remove the covering, then gently roll up the tape with your finger until you have a long roll. Cut into sections as needed to apply to the back of the third image, then attach slightly higher and between the two daffodil images that are already glued in place.

10. Use 3D tape to attach the sentiment to the front of the card.

11. Adhere 3 pearls to front of card. See sample for placement.

12. Stamp the verse and the butterfly inside card with black ink.

Peaceful Cabin – Springtime at the Cabin

Annie’s Ink-Lings

Here I sit, practically snowed in, and all I can think about is when is spring going to arrive!  We have over 3 feet of snow all around us, with about 24 inches coming in one day and night.  Nonetheless, I'm happily snug in my studio having a great time.

The Peaceful Cabin stamp set was meant to be a snow scene, but look how wonderfully it was turned into a springtime in the woods scene.  So fun to create!

For the background I used a Stampin' Up foam brayer overlapping the Distress Ink colors to make the grass and the sky with light clouds.  I really like the texture that the foam brayers leave, compared to the solid color look that rubber brayers make.  And I especially like the Diorama die that beautifully sets off the scene.  Can hardly wait to use those dies again.

Products Used
Stampin’ Up Peaceful Cabin stamp set
Stampin’ Up Cabin Dies
Stampin’ Up Layering Diorama Dies

Ink Pads and Alcohol Ink Markers
Distress Pads: Brushed Corduroy, Aged Mahogany, Forest Moss, Speckled
     Egg, Tumbled Glass

Pop-Up and Pull-Out Card in Purple, Yellow, White

Annie’s Ink-Lings

Check out my other cards
 at

Now that Christmas card making is past, I have some time to try some of the fancy folds patterns I've been saving up.  This one is called a Pop-Up and Pull-Out Card.  I was a bit intimidated to try it.  However, I just focused on one step at a time and it turned out to be quite easy.  Now I'm just crazy about this fold and love this color combination.  See what you think.

Here is a pic of how the inside and the pul-out fold look.

Card Base

Purple 5 ½” x 8 ½”; score at 2 1/8” and 4 ¼”
1st Pattern DP (z-fold panels) 1 7/8” x 5 ¼” (cut 2) (I used two patterns.)

Card Front
Purple Small Front Panels 1 ¾” x 1 ¾”, (cut 2)
2nd Pattern DP Small Front Layer Panels 1 ½” x ½” (cut 2)
Purple Scalloped Circle Punch/Die 2 ¼”
White Circle Punch/Die 2”

Card Inside
Light Yellow Panel 4” x 5”
White Panel 3” x 4 ¾”
1st Pattern DP Strip ½” x 4 ¾”
Purple Strip ¼” x 4 ¾”

Pop Up Inside Panel
Purple Panel 3 ¾” x 3 ¾” (cut in half)
2nd Pattern DP 3 ½” x 3 ½” (cut in half)
Using Stampin’ Up Double Oval Punch, punch the scalloped oval from Purple; punch the plain oval from white.

Stamps
Stampin’ Up Fabulous Phrases: Best Wishes
Rooted in Nature: Just for You
Unknown: Happiest of Birthday to You!

Extras
Small Leaves Punch
Small Flower Punch
Tiny Flower Punch
Yellow Gems

You can pretty much follow the photo to see how the pieces fit together.  However, there is one thing that I haven't mentioned yet.

Once you get the middle DP panel and the Yellow panel adhered, fold the card in half.  You need to make two horizonal slits in this way:  3/4" in from the fold and 1 1/2" down from the top.  Then again 1 1/2" up from the bottom and 3/4" in from the fold.

Make score lines between the two slits.  Fold with a mountain fold.  This is the place where you will adhere the triangle panel.

Coming Up Roses on an Angled Trifold Card

Annie’s Ink-Lings

Whatever the season, I still like to make cards using flowers.  I was afraid I would forget this idea by the time spring arrived, so here I sat, with the snow coming now, picking out a flower-pattern paper.  The one I chose is so cheerful and actually uplifted my spirit.  What’s your reaction?  The style is called an angled trifold card and the first one I’ve done.

I really like the flower and leaves stamps I used.  They are from a Stampin’ Up set called “To a Wild Rose,” which also has dies to match.  However, this time I just fussy cut the images.

To add a little color to the inside of the card, I adhered a stem of leaves like the ones on the front of the card.  Take a closer look at the belly band and notice the beautiful mini ruffled red ribbon.  It makes a perfect embellishment.

Measurements:
Card Base: 5-1/2″ x 11″
Optional: Basic White inside: 4″ x 5-1/4″,
DSP: 3-1/8″ x 5-1/4”, cut two
White Belly band: 3/4″ x 10″ (a second option is 10”x 1” depending on how wide the ribbon is). My ribbon is 3/8” wide so I made the belly band 3/4” x 10”.
Stampin’ Up Red Mini Ruffled Ribbon 9 ¼"
1/8” red line tape or score tape

Directions for Card Base
1. Score 3-3/8″ from each side on the 11″ side.
2. On the outside panel on the right side of the card base, with pencil make tic mark 1” down.
3. At the bottom of the right side of the card, make a tic mark 1” in.
4. Do the same on the left side of the card base
5. Cut from score line to tic mark on each one.

Directions for DP Panels
1. With the red dotted panel, on the left side make a tic 1” down from the top and 1” in at the bottom of the panel.
2. With the flower design panel, on the right side make a tic 1” down from the top and 1” in at the bottom of the panel
3. Cut from score line to tic mark on each one.
4. Adhere DP panels to the card base.

Directions for Belly Band
1. Score belly band on the left end at 3 ¼”. Wrap the long end of the band around the back of the card, and the fold over to the front placing under the left end. Make sure that you have sliding room before you glue in place.
2. Attach ruffled ribbon to the belly band using 1/8” red line tape or score tape.

Flower and Leaves:
Stamp, color, and cut out. Glue the leaves to the back of the flower. When attaching the flower and leaves to belly band, be sure you don’t glue any part of them to the card base.

Gardening Anniversary Card

Annie’s Ink-Lings

Today I made an anniversary card for a couple who aren't much into hearts and flowers, so I focused on what they really enjoy -- gardening!  I do believe that each of them has two green thumbs. 😁  They grow most everything from seed, starting sometime in late winter or so, in order to have their little plants ready for spring planting.  During harvest time, they happily give away a lot of their bountiful crops, but also do a lot of canning and freezing for the year ahead.  How wonderful it is that they can work  side-by-side and enjoy their time together.  I pray that they will have many more happy seasons together. 💓

This is a simple card but illustrates a big story of their life.

Stampin’ Up: Garden Shed (image and sentiment)
Best Birds (sentiment)

Measurements
Card Base 5 ½” x 8 ½”
Dark Green Panel 4” x 5 2/8”
Decorative Paper Panel 3 3/16” x 4 3/8”
Yellow Gold Sentiment Strips (cut 2) 7/8” x 3”
White Sentiment Strips (cut 2) 6/8” x 3
After adhering together, trim to fit card.

Trapeze Fold - Beautiful Snowflakes

Annie’s Ink-Lings

Check out my other cards
 at

Finally, we had our first snow of the season.  It all melted by the next day, but while the flakes were coming down, it was beautiful to watch.  All sizes and shapes – they’re amazing.  Thoroughly inspired, I started looking through my supplies for snowflake dies.  This is my first snowflake card of the season.  It’s called a trapeze fold card and totally new to me.  There are several videos on YouTube which were totally helpful in making this card.  More simple than you would imagine.  Take a look.

The color of the sequins did not photograph properly.  A couple of them look black, but they are really a pretty shade of pink.

Here is a diagram of the card base where you can see the score and fold lines and also indicating valley fold and mountain fold.  I hope you'll give it a try.

Measurements

White Card Stock 11” x 5 ¾”

DSP 5 ½” x 5 ½”

Scrap of White Card Stock for tag and die cut.

Supplies

Stampin’ Up Snowfall Thinlits Dies

Sentiment from Stampin’ Snow is Glistening

Stampin’ Up Stitched Nestled Labels Dies

Scoring and Folding for Card Base

·       Fold the white card base in half, open it up flat with the inside face up.  Make pencil marks along the score line at 1 ½”, 2 ¼”, 3 ½”, 4 ¼”.  See the diagram below.

·        Make score lines from the marks in the center, two off of them scored from the marks to the left corner; then the other two score from the marks to the right corner.  Turn the card around and score the same way on that side.

·        With the outside of the card base facing up, the middle score lines are mountain folds and the outside lines are valley folds.

After the folding is completed, if the bottom corners don’t match - with the card closed, you can cut off 1/8” off the bottom to even it out

Cutting for DP Layering Panel and Finishing

   ·     At the top of the DP, make a pencil dot at 2 ¼” and 3 1/4”.  Then cut from the markings to the lower corner on each side.

 ·        Adhere the DP Panel, aligning it evenly to the top of the card.  Cut off any excess at the bottom if necessary.

·        Die cut the snowflakes and adhere to DP panel, along with the tag stamped with a sentiment.

·        I added several pink sequins to the side sections, using glue dots.  Sadly, a few of the sequins look like they are black, but I could not get a better picture.
